<description>Så här skriver Madeleine Limé, VD på EkoLeko.

Dear Monica,

Thank you very much for your email.

I can assure that children&#039;s safe and enjoyable use of our products is of the utmost importance to us, and we make every effort to ensure this. We have always strived to comply with or exceed the most stringent safety requirement globally - including requirements for lead. We have never used lead in our bricks. I can assure you lead has never been a part of the recipe for bricks.

Today all LEGO brand toys are tested by independent third party labs and meet or exceed all mandatory toy safety requirements in the 130 countries where they are sold, including of course the lead and phthalate provisions of the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) and the heavy elements requirement in the EU Toy Safety Directive. The safety requirements for toys in the 130 countries cover all sorts of aspects from chemical requirements, age grading, small parts, material composition, to no sharp edges or points, and much more.

We strive uncompromisingly to live up to the most stringent legal requirements for toy safety, not only in the individual geographic markets, but globally. The LEGO Group also takes an active part in standardization work taking place in the US, EU, ISO and follows global developments in regulatory requirements for toy safety very carefully so that we in relation to product development always are abreast with future legal requirements and thus live up to it when they take effect. In addition, we often choose to make it even better than the strictest requirements globally. This means that we have a code of &quot;LEGO standards&quot; that are more restrictive than the most stringent regulatory requirements of the world, which means that the LEGO Group&#039;s products in many cases are far more secure than what is required in the applicable regulations.
